Oh How I Love A Carnival

We said good-bye to July with one of our summer traditions-the NBCG Family Fun Fest. It may not seem like much-just a small midway, some rides, food vendors and a band stage-but we love it. It kind of feels like a small town carnival hidden in the middle of the city. Bikers, trashy pre-teen girls and middle aged former rocker chicks who are now cover band groupies. There’s a reality show in there somewhere-Real Cover Band Groupies of the Midwest. One week it would be the followers of M.S.T.-The “UFO – Michael Schenker Tribute”, next week the ladies of Kashmir-The Led Zeppelin cover band. I think I may have something here…

And it has the worlds greatest corn dogs.

We don’t ride the rides or play the games-we just walk in circles, enjoying the lights and people watching. And of course eating corn dogs.

Full Moon Fire Jam

Made it out to the fire jam on Monday night. So many people! Met up with James and we couldn’t decide if it was a good thing that so many people have discovered the event. We had the cook kid moment of “Oh I remember when it fit on the lakeside and there were just a handful of people (sniff)”

The good thing about it being so popular is that there seems to be a lot more talented spinners.

Tartanic & Wolgemut

I love bagpipes. I love Amazing Grace on bagpipes. We had a piper play it at our wedding. I love Tartanic. I did not know I loved Wolgemut before heading to the faire but so many of my Duluth friends were fans that we made sure to see them. Now I love Wolgemut. And then they played a set with Tartanic which was pretty much perfection!

Tartanic and Wolgemut play “Amazing Grace” at the Bristol Renaissance Faire.

The Renaissance Faire

It was the fifth year in a row that we celebrated our anniversary at the Bristol Renaissance Faire and Canyon’s Second Renaissance faire and yet I still need spell check to spell Renaissance.
